Saniya was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was raised in Delaware. One of Saniya’s true passions is dance. She began dancing 11 years ago at various dance studios in Delaware. Her main styles of dance are: Ballet, Modern, and Contemporary, with her focus mainly on Ballet. She was also a member of the Philadelphia Soul Dance Team as a “Soul Mate” for the Arena Football Team. Saniya competed in the Delaware Miss Juneteenth pageant in 2019. Her platform issue is Domestic Violence and she has been very supportive of this cause, bringing awareness to this very serious problem that plagues many families. Saniya Gay held the title of Delaware Miss Juneteenth 2019 and 2020. Since obtaining her prestigious crown, she has made several appearances, visiting local schools, delivering messages on African American and Juneteenth History. In 2020, she competed in the National Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant and became the First National Miss Juneteenth in the Nation. She was honored to become the National Student Ambassador for the 400 Years of African American History Commission. The 400 Years of African American History Commission is a federally appointed Commission operating independently as established by the Secretary of the Department of the Interior and administered by The National Park Service. As an Ambassador, she has hosted events, streaming television specials and has interviewed a number of noted African Americans, including Opal Lee who was a strong advocate in making Juneteenth a National Holiday, and General Charles Bolden, former head of NASA. She is a student at Delaware State University with a major in Mass Communications. While attending Delaware, she has managed the school's radio station and created her own content under the program Organization and Business Spotlight. She recently has become a producer and camera operator for the film crew at Delaware State University that streams the Basketball Games and Football Games on ESPN. The Organizations that Saniya is a part of is National Council of Negro Women and LIFT.
